One of the many sites to link to my Jyllands Posten cartoon page is a Lebanese forum thread with a list of links to offensive cartoons. We have links to plenty of Jesus-bashing, Jew-bashing, Commie-bashing etc. as well as the above Muhammed-bashing. I thought I might put the list below for educational purposes.
Muhammed Cartoons - http://www.di2.nu/files/Muhammed_Cartoons_Jyllands_Posten.html
Jesus Cartoons - http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/j/jesus.asp
David Cartoons - http://www.cartoonstock.com/newscartoons/directory/d/david.asp
Karl Marx Cartoons - http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/k/karl_marx.asp
Stalin Cartoons - http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/s/stalin.asp
Adolf Hitler Cartoons - http://www.cartoonstock.com/directory/a/adolf_hitler.asp
Pope Cartoons -http://www.cartoonstock.com/newscartoons/directory/p/pope.asp
Now does anyone see a difference between the links?
On a related note I'm getting some interesting hatemail as a result of the page as well as a number of links and referals from Arabic speaking web forums, discussion boards and blogs (I have no idea whether the links are surrounded by "Die Infidel" commentary or "Wow what a breath of fresh air" commentary or anything else since my knowledge of Arabic is effectively 0).
I should like to point out (for the record) that I'm not endorsing the cartoons and don't find many of them funny (the virgins one is good as is Muhammed with his two wives in burkas), what I am posting them for is that I feel very strongly that no subject should be barred from humourous treatment. The English always make bad taste jokes and I think that it helps.
