It seems that the President of France, aka l'Escroc, is now able to claim a significant victory over his American fellow president. Yes it seems that l'Escroc is now considered to be even less competant that the evil Shrub Mcchimpy with a wapping 72% of the French public believing that he has really lost it and only 43% of his own UMP party thinking that he plays a leading role in French politics. Yes indeed as the Torygraph points out in its picture caption Chirac is a "Canard Boiteux" and one can only hope that he remains such. I have to say that I love the positively Blairite ZANU-labour spin put on his recent low profile:
Some analysts say his absence from the political stage has been carefully orchestrated to allow his protégé, Mr de Villepin, to appear as the nation's de facto leader, and a credible presidential alternative to his rival, Mr Sarkozy, who leads the UMP.
although the statement that "the president will stop at nothing to block Mr Sarkozy's rise to power - even if it means backing a socialist candidate" does ring very true. Unfortunately for l'Escroc I suspect that he may regret this attempt to block Sarko because I do believe that when (if) Sarko is elected he will insist on a thorough investigation of l'Escroc's corruption as revenge.
